DEMON

Demons are supernatural entities with boundless malevolence who exist in the Darkness.[1] They can be summoned by magicians with knowledge of demonology and the proper rites.[2] Summoning demons is considered part of the Black Arts, and hence is strictly forbidden by the White Council.[3]

To summon a demon, the caster draws several circles on the ground. One large circle keeps the demon sealed in, with two inner circles protecting the summoner. Once the circles are active, they could not be crossed, at the pain of death.[4]

Demons are known to take shapes expected by the summoner.[5] Demons are able to possess individuals, but it requires some level of consent from the target.[6] Demons also cannot lie, but are known to mislead those they interact with,[7] leading to the Golden Rule of Demons: "Never trust a demon completely."[8]

Though demons are not omniscient, they are able to easily discern the importance in a person's life, and where they desire to go. In this sense, they are disconnected from time as humans see it.[9]

In the old days of the Nameless World, magicians known as DemonMasters were able to summon a large number of demons under their command.[10] Most, however, died at the hands of the very demons they summoned.[11]
